Blasts from the past & plans for 125th anniversary hatched

1888 and all that
Ger Browne
Ger Browne delivered an excellent illustrated talk covering his recently completed history of the Ennis Tennis & Badminton Club. Many members with considerable experience  attended  and there was much nostalgia as individuals, tournaments and social events were recalled. Attendees were amazed at the breadth and depth of the research that extends to the 1880's and covers Clare's tennis, badminton and squash clubs. Amongst the audience were John Costin, Colm Keating, Bríd Dillon, Gráinne Ryan,  Jim  and Ann O'Dowd, Oliver Moylan, Joe Malony, Gerry Bredin, Fergus Walsh, Liam O'Halloran and Johny Flynn who, collectively, have  decades of commitment to the club. They represented Ennis & Fergus Tennis Club, Ennis Badminton Club & One Mile Inn Squash Club.

The research can be accessed here .

Ger outlined his embryonic plans to suitably mark the 125th anniversary of the club with a series of events and the publication of a book with his research. It is envisaged that a sub-committee will be formed to plan for the historic milestone in 2013.

Listen below to long-standing club  member Johny Flynn talk about Ger's documentation of the club's history and his own experiences with the club.
